Altoona Transportation Center Mural

1231 11th Ave, Altoona, PA 16601

The painting, Altoona and Transportation, by Altoona artist Joe Servello, located at the Altoona Transportation Center, depicts the evolution of the railroad.  Starting with the 1361 K-4 Steam Engine on the left (well known to railroad buffs), and moving to a streamlined engine from the 1920’s.

In the center is an Amtrak 250 engine still in use today. Like the painting by Kutz, this painting also shows well known landmarks of the area, the Cathedral and the Horseshoe Curve.
