Discover Downtown Altoona
Incorporated in 1856, the City of Altoona served as the terminus for the Pennsylvania Railroad throughout much of the 20th century. Still rich in rail history, Altoona’s economy is now driven by education, health services and a growing technology sector.
Downtown Altoona is in the heart of the emerging I-99 Innovation Corridor and the City’s Enterprise Zone. With a population of 46,000, Altoona is home to Penn state Altoona College and is less than 35 minutes from Penn State University Park.
